Light Propagation in Foams 
In collaboration with Dr. Holger Stark, University of Konstanz, Germany.
Diffusing photons in a multiply scattering medium, like colloidal suspension provides information about the static and dynamic properties, as diffusing-wave spectroscopy (DWS) and diffuse-transmission spectroscopy have shown. Recent experiments have applied DWS to foam. We aim to understand and explain the experimental observation.

  Dynamic Casimir Effect

In collaboration with Dr. Ramin Golestanian.
The most well known illustration of mechanical effects related to the quantum vacuum field is the Casimir force between to mirrors at rest. We would like to study an effect caused by mirror movement; Photon emission.

Optical Properties of Fractal Clusters
This is the electronic plasma resonance that gives the gold colloid unique colors: red when unaggregated and blue or gray when aggregated.

  Colloidal Crystalline States on 2D Periodic Substrates
In collaboration with Dr. Kolahchi.
Colloidal particles are an ideal system for studying 2D ordering and melting as the individual particle positions and dynamics can be directly visualized. Using numerical simulations, we study colloidal crystalline states realized on square an triangular 2D periodic substrates.
