Founded in
2008, the department of Computer Science was at first a nested group inside the
department of Mathematics to provide an advanced studies program at MSc level. It started with 10 MSc
students, working in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Computational
Geometry, Theory of Computation and Graph Theory in CS. The first workshop on Recommendation
Systems was held by this group in 2009 in the IASBS main hall. After the
second year student entrance, the policies of IASBS changed to joining this group
with the IT department in a single faculty, having both Information Technology BSc and Computer Science MSc
students in a row. These two departments managed the first conference on Contemporary
Issues in Computer and Information Sciences (CICIS) in June 2010. The members
of this young department have published many scientific papers in international
journals and conference proceedings, leading in their specific fields of
research.
